a few salient quotes ….

A Richmond man and another Virginia hiker found safe yesterday in Glacier National Park in Montana had lost their way in wintry conditions, had hunkered down for a few days and were rationing their food

….

“They had food, but they rationed it,” Peckens said. “They were each living on a quarter of a CLIF bar every day.

….

They had a green two-man tent, which Cathy Peckens said had unfortunately blended in with the scenery.

….

“They did have good equipment,” she said. “They felt confident that they would be OK because they were physically fit, they had the equipment, they had the knowledge, and Neal never gives up.”

However, she said, the two "could not keep a fire going… They shared watches to keep the fire going, but the weather was so inclement that they couldn't keep the fire going."

Very few articles like this in the news these days. Meaning, it's nice to hear about people who actually know their stuff, and just get stuck in bad circumstances, getting rescued successfully.
Glad they're OK. Sounds like they kept their cool and responded well.

I guess nobody mentioned the possibility of snow… the threat of instant karma deters any further comment on my part.
