I was wondering if anyone that owns a Klymit Static V has been able to use them in downs down near freezing yet and what their experiences were. I am thinking of getting one, am tall, side sleep and use a quilt. I figure I can always layer it with my Ridgerest Solar for below freezing if I need to. Thanks.

I can hang my feet off the end. I usually do on most beds anyways.

I just started using one this year and its pretty nice. I've actually taken one down to 35° F. I only had my 45° cheap lafuma bag I got at rei outlet for under 30 and wore base layer, boxers, and mountain hardwear compressor jacket PL. I slept through the night just fine, but was cold when I woke up at my normal wake up time, but before sunrise. It was hard to get back to sleep, but this was because my legs were cold, due to the sleeping bag being too thin. I didn't feel the cold too much from the ground/static v.

I am a warm sleeper though, and my girlfriend and I had a space all weather blanket as a ground sheet. Our tent is the big agnes jack rabbit SL.

Another time I took a piece of very thin aluminized foam sheet with me, expecting lows in the mid 30's (like the ones for car windshields) to use inside my sleeping bag, under me..however temps didn't dip below 40. However, I didn't feel any cold from the ground using it. I'm sure a 1/8 ccf would work great with it, or some reflectix.

I don't have a ton of experience with different pads, but I do use the Static V pad because of the great price. After my first night out with it, however, I started bringing a foam pad too for insulation. I'm usually a hot sleeper, and I used it in the back yard, around 50 degrees, and was fine in a bag, but went camping and used a quilt with it, again, around 50, and was a little colder than comfortable. Ever since then, I've since used it with the foam pad from walmart, and it's worked fine with my quilt.

fell back asleep.
Woke up just before sunrise after a 35* night, put emergency blanket around my lower body, and i fell back asleep. Girlfriend took this while i slept.
