ULA Circuit size comparison

Funny, I actually own both of these packs. I'd say the Deuter has a larger main compartment but the the Circuit has more external storage (i.e. larger back and side pockets). The lid on the Deuter also adds some more room, but I don't often use it.

Thanks for the information. Pics would be great. I'm thinking of getting a Circuit or a Catalyst and can't decide on the size. Wish I could see them in person without going through the hassle of ordering one and returning one. Especially since I want a custom color which would mean I'd need to order both in standard and return them both and then order the one I want in the color I want.

Here are some pics:

I have the "+10" gray extension collar open on the Deuter, about 1 roll on the roll-top of the Circuit, and 1 L water bottles in both side pockets of each pack. As I said earlier, the main bag of the Circuit isn't huge but you can fit a lot of stuff in its large external pockets.

FWIW, ULA has a very easy return policy. I originally ordered an Ohm 2.0 but decided it was too small. ULA e-mailed me a pre-paid shipping label and had my Circuit sent off before I even put the Ohm 2.0 back in the mail.

Thanks for the pics. They're great. How do you like the Circuit compared to the Deuter in regard to comfort, carrying capacity and anything else you can think of?

They're quite different packs. After some trimming, the Deuter weighs about 1.25 lbs more than the Circuit, but mostly all that weight is in the frame and in the hipbelt padding (the pack itself is just a big nylon cylinder, really). I haven't had to carry much over 30 lbs for a long time and have so been using the Circuit lately. But if I knew I'd be hauling a lot of water or other heavy and bulky stuff I'd take the Deuter. It's simply more comfortable with heavier loads. That said, I think the Circuit is easier to live out of due to its external pockets and is fine for me with all day loads up to about 25 or 30 lbs.
