You may be describing a small, non-stick wok. Try Wally Mart or oriental stores.

If all else fails try those Communists on E Bay or Amazon.

If you want something that lasts then ti is better. You say alum has better heat transfer but I doubt you will remember that after you get Alzheimer's.

I have very similar requirements to yours, and have been satisfied for years with the MSR duralite pots. The pot is big enough to use as a sauce pan, and wide enough for a good fry pan. The non-stick coating has not deteriorated even after quite a few months of usage several times a day. These pans were used to cook for three people on several six week trips, and hardly show any wear. The pot distributes heat very well, and it is difficult to get a hot spot where food sticks. In my experience, the duralite pots are quite a bit sturdier than the titanium pots I've used, and I've not tried a titanium pot that distributes the heat any where near as well as the MSRs. The pot was on sale at REI a while back for about $10, and I think they are available elsewhere for about this much, so an experiment with them will not set you back much. There are also sets of duralite pots available, including one that does have a dedicated fry pan. I bought one of these sets and just take the pan I want on a trip.

Jim, the MSR Duralite pot looks good. Unfortunately it seems to be out of production. I will keep looking for them on …. (wait for it) EBAY. Yes, Eric I will support our socialist comrades if they have the goods. So far no go. Just like them to sell used kettles and trinkets to capitalists at outrageous prices.

Michael – I grew up with asbestos in the basement, PCBs in my beef, mercury in the salmon, lead in the paint, radon in the basement. Aluminum is going to have to take a number and get in line.
