Crocks

I have used standard Crocs to take many hikes. The comfort, low weight, and lack of water absorption are great. The lack of traction was a frequent issue on the slippery spots and occasionally I would have a stick poke through one of the holes on the front of the Crocs. For rainy weather I wore them in combination with Rocky Gore-Tex socks.

This year's "Off Road" version addressed both of the problems I experienced in the past. This new version has a high traction sole, the front is now completely enclosed, and extra material has been added in the front for durability when breaking trail. There is now a Velcro adjustment on either side of the heel strap plus the heel strap is significantly more padded.

As the only downside, the weight for my size 11 increased from 6.5 oz per shoe to 8 oz.

Having used as a camp shoe, I would not think they would be good to hike in, going downhill tendency to slip of the side. They are sized to fit larger than normal foot size. If taking camp shoes I prefer the crocs flip flop at 10ozs.
