Hey everybody.

Maybe I'm young, maybe I'm weird, but I really DON'T like using trekking poles. I like having my hands free, and don't find they help that much. Maybe It's because I'm young, maybe I use them wrong, who knows. All I know is that I'd rather do without them.

I do however, love Tarp camping. I have a nice 8×10 sil tarp that I always use. I recently now just carry my trekking poles to set up my tarp. That's some very useless unnecessary weight. I have used stick's and trees etc in the past, but it really limits my options of where to set up a tarp. I like being able to set it up wherever I want.

I see that gossamer gear no longer has any in stock. So who offers some lightweight tent/tarp poles that would be suitable for hanging A-frame configurations and the like?

Thanks,
~Richard.

polesforyou.com and questoutfitters.com have aluminum and fiberglass poles

Are there any fairly lightweight adjustable non-trekking poles out there ?
Aside from the golite pole which is too big anyway – I'd love to pair it with my trailstar and make a lightweight tripod.

David, the two sites above your post both sell adjustable carbon fiber poles that are not trekking poles.

Check out the black diamond ultra distance pole, it's foldable and 7 – 8 oz.

Edit they are around 4.5 ounces each.

We have some adjustable CF poles, a bit overkill for a tarp, but light and functional. Seekoutside.com or PM me what you are looking for. I rarely carry trekkers myself.
