They get good word of mouth on some of the other forums I visit. I've never had an experience with them, packs or tents. I figure I'll throw it out to you guys and gals:

I have a ParaTipi. Nice piece of equipment. Great cutomer service.
It was founded by Patrick Smith the founder of MountainSmith after he sold MountainSmith. Kifaru targets the hunting market.
Disclaimer: MountainSmith is a local company located at a trailhead I use often. Kifaru is also local and I drop in a couple of times a year.
I'm a hunter and a gear junkie, and with that said, I have alot of Kifaru stuff, including their LongHunter, LateSeason, and SpikeCamp backpacks, as well as the Paratarp, Paratipi (with small stove) and 6-man tipi with Medium stove). The packs fit me well, carry a load well, and are well constructed. They also have a military side that makes packs with external webbing, and one could endlessly add modular attachments to add volume.
The tents are floorless, and allow for a stove, and their stoves are amazingly light and compact. For a sustained shelter system, these tipis are hard to beat. They company sponsors a forum, at kifaru.net and many questions can be answered there. Some of the posters are every bit as gifted as you will find here.

I own a kifaru MMR outfited with the optional topflap and longzip pouches on the sides. LOVE this ruck..this is my duty ruck thats seen alot of use in iraq, TX, CA, and GA. Carries a ton of weight (easly 60+lbs)without damage to the pack. very durable material!the fact that kifaru had outstanding customer service really sold me… anytime i need to ask a question or get something added to the pack the guys and gals at kifaru have been quick to help. Comfort wise..the rucks outstanding! all the weight is transfered to your hips and easy to run or walk with a full pack. Even when wearing body armour i can move faster and longer than if i was using the issue equipment. I know my opinion is based off of military use and not UL (far from it in fact) but i cant say enough about how great the packs are or how comfortable. NOT my choice for UL but definitly all i recommend for a duty ruck.

Great stuff and very durable but the packs are kind of overkill is you're just into ultralight stuff. They are built to carry a serious load. The tipis are a whole 'nother story as they are very light for the size and pretty comfy with a stove in colder weather.
Kifaru rocks!! I have owned two of their military packs and they are completely bomber. Not cheap but quality costs. Aside from a shelter or two, nothing from Kifaru is UL or even close to L but if you need to haul lots of gear in an environment that would trash just about anything then Kifaru is your mecca.
Their new military day pack (called the X-Ray) is next on my list. The poor credit card is smoking after the cocoon and artic pack pre-purchases and now a new kifaru pack on the horizon…

Has caught my eye as well. Definitely not UL at 4 lbs. but I really need a do everything, any environment, at work or play pack to replace my old beater.
