I have made a few (ok….lots) alcohol stove out of various soda cans. I have even pucked a few of the stoves, mostly by chance. (to get a definition of "pucking" please visit http://zenstoves.net/Construction-Advanced.htm
I have done as suggested on the Zen Stoves website and used a spray can. About 85-90% of the time the can gets permanently stuck on the bottom of the spray can. I have even put liquid dish soap around the spray can in an attempt to prevent the sticking. Still no good.
I have used a wrap of aluminum flashing (as described here…http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/xdpy/forum_thread/1571/index.htmlI am wondering if anyone knows a way to puck a can effectively. Tinny? How do you do it?
Also, instead of the puck just depressing the outer-most edge of the can, (as demonstrated here…
is there a way to make the the entire rim of the can flush with the ground and still leave the dimple in the middle of the can bottom like this…Anyone's suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thank you -
