liberally seam grip under the duct tape and put duct tape on both sides, round off the tape edges so they dont catch on anything

good as new … well not in looks …

I would also recommend seam grip for the repair, although I would cut a patch from a piece of cordura instead of duct tape for a more permanent repair.

Duct tape on the inside, seam grip on the outside is probably adequate. If you want more strength, duct tape on the inside, cut a rounded patch of cordura, thin coat of seam grip on patch and pack, let the seam grip dry until just not tacky (seam grip won't cure without air), then apply patch and clamp as it dries. Add a bead of seam grip around the edges of the patch once dry to make it bomber.
