Stoic Wraith Wind Shell, Any Opinions ?

I think it could work if you have very small and short arms, but it did not work at all for me. I am 6'4" 210 and I usually fit into a large for everything but gloves and socks, but had to step up all the way to a XXL in the wraith before I could even put my hands above my head with it on. Of course at that point, the torso was basically a circus tent around me and I decided to pay a little more and go with montbell's offering in size XL. I also have tried on the houdini and really liked the new material and lower price point of the newer model.

Some people seem to like the fit, but I would recommend sizing up. It might be worth trying given backcountry.com's excellent return policy.

I just ordered one today, in the forest green color, and XL size.

I hope it fits. I think it will.
I like ultralight things that stuff down very small, and this seems to fit the bill.
Got it on sale for $45, so I thought that was worth a try.

I just got one recently. I had it out for 8 days on the AT in Maine. It spent most of the time in my pack but performed well when I needed it. Seemed to breathe decently. Appreciated the weight since it spent most of the time in my pack. I wore it in the rain, but it was warm and humid, so it was wet inside-I think that would have been the case no matter what I was wearing.
Stoic tends to be slim with long arms. That is a good fit for me. It's really hard to find a brand that fits this way, so I like the Stoic fit. I am 6'4" 190 lbs. I usually wear an XL for the sleeves but an XL is usually a little baggy in the belly. This XL fit me better than most.

I used one this summer on a JMT hike. Nice wind shirt, great in the early morning, or hanging out on a pass in the wind. I would't use it for rain, it will wet out very quickly. Not what I got it for.

I used it quite often in the evening while my hiking shirt was drying on a clothes line. The wraith was bug proof but cool to wear in the warm evenings, and felt fine against the skin.

I like mine b/c its super light, simple and quite breathable. Price is nice too. Since there's no adjustability, you've got to make sure it fits out of the box, so I'd order a couple sizes. I'm usually either a M or an L and I went with an L in the wraith. At 6'1, 175 lbs its a good hiking fit, but rides up when climbing/scrambling FWIW.

I have not used it backpacking yet, but I used mine bicycle touring and love it. It is a great piece of gear.

I'm so impatient waiting for mine to come.
I can't wait to try it out! I have to wait all the way to the 5th before it arrives!

Just to follow up on this thread, my Stoic Wraith arrived last night, and I'm quite pleased.
I ordered the Size XL, and I'm 5'10" tall and 225 pounds with an ex-bodybuilder's build, which is to say fairly stocky but with a stomach that comes with age and not working out at the gym anymore. My chest is 46" and my pants size waist is 40". I take a 16" neck-size shirt with 32-33" sleeve(measured from the center of the back of the neck) in a dress shirt.

So anyway, I tried this Stoic XL on last night and it fit fine.
Sleeve length was good, coming down to the heel of my palm.
Fit fairly snug like a bicycling jacket without any flappy extra material.
I had enough room around the chest and stomach to wear a silk-weight base layer and a medium fleece mid-layer underneath, and still not feel like I was in a straight jacket.
Snug, but not pulled tight anywhere.
If you want to wear a bulky insulation layer under this, then size up.

The hood was adequate, but nothing special. No drawstring, and it just lays on your head. But, it covers the head, so I guess that's all it was made to do, and it is light that way,

Speaking of light, this Stoic Wraith in Size XL weighs 73g on my scale, which is 2.6 ounces.
Very light.
Packs easily into its own pocket as a "stuff sack", but it is not mashed in. It goes in with plenty of room left. You could stuff this thing down a lot more than the pocket size is, if you wanted to stuff it down hard to the bare minimum size. It would go in the palm of your hand like a tennis ball, or even less maybe.
But when it's in its own pocket, it is nice and comfy in there, and can be shaped to fit various places you might want to put it. It can go quite flat, and store easily in a pants cargo pocket, or even the back pocket of your pants. Very packable.

One thing I noticed is that it is a little "clingy" on your skin, if you have no base layer on. It works a lot better with some kind of base layer, even if it is a micro-thin base layer, because it glides over the base layer when you put it on and wear it, and doesn't stick to your moist skin. On bare skin, it clings to you almost like a garbage bag, especially if you have a little sweat on you.

Obviously no field performance report yet, since I just got it last night. But I think it's going to be good.

The comment about size mentioning that "It would go in the palm of your hand like a tennis ball, or even less maybe" is kind of misleading. It will pack to a size that is nowhere near the size of a tennis ball. I can squeeze it in my hands and completely enclose it with my fingers and thumb.
