I am very cautious buyer. I will circle items for days, research, comparison shop and then agonize for days. Last week I followed a link to the Zimmerbilt web site. I have never purchased from Zimmerbilt before but Zimmerbilt has a solid reputation on the BPL forums. I went to the "Gear Deals" page and saw the "Summit Sack." The design is crazy simple, much like the plastic shopping bags I have seen from the Nike Store or the Apple Store: a simple sack with 2 draw string "straps" that go over your shoulders and cinch the bag closed. I have also seen cheap nylon versions of the same bag. I bought the Summit Sack on a total impulse. Zimmerbilt's version is made from 1.43oz cuben and hit my scale at 1.2oz with dimensions of 13"x19". At $35, it was more expensive then similar cuban stuff sacks from Zpacks, HMG and Mountain Laurel Designs. However, 1.2oz, with the draw string straps, it makes a great ultralight day pack and I am sucker for multi-use items. I loaded mine up with a platy bottle, my wind shirt, some random cloths, etc and it was quite roomy and comfortable. It worked great as a stuff sack for my sleeping bag and for my usual clothing set-up. The quality is excellent and the transaction with Zimmerbilt was a breeze. There were two occasions this summer where I would have used this as a day pack for some off trail scrambling. If you are in the market for a stuff sack that can double as a day pack, check it out.
