Questions for Ye BA Seedhouse 2 SL Owners

I've had my BA SH out on ridges in Alaska in hellacious wind/rain storms & wondered if the pull-back that pulls the bathtub attached to the fly helps with pulling a wet floor back.

I do know that in high winds all of the stakes & lines were crucial.

I wonder why BA would have those sleeves for the poles if they were not necessary or if you can just bypass them for convenience while maintaining the integrity of the tent body. Re-sale is another consideration.

Did the inside of your tent get wet? Otherwise, why would you need the pull backs's to pull your floor out sideways?

I will not temper with any of the pullouts / lines on the fly itself.

Pole sleeves??? Perhaps you are talking about the Sarvis? Seedhouse tents don't have sleeves that I know of…

Sorry… it would be called a loop not a sleeve on my SL.
Aren't you concerned that you would put too much pressure on the remaining loops?

No, I have never gotten wet in my seedhouse, but then ha I use the pull outs! Without the pull out the bathtub side collapsed in.

If not for weight, why would you cut?

May the tent fly be fastened to the poles (velcro loops etc…)? If you have to guy out the tent in fierce winds, the loops will transfer wind loads to the tent poles. The clips will then spread the wind loads more evenly on the mesh. I would leave them to promote longer life for the mesh at the stress points.

I had a Sierra Designs tent (don't remember the name) that was produced for one season. The design subjected the mesh to undo stress and it tore at every clip.

Just hate to see your BA falling apart.

I just tried what you're proposing and while the 4 front and back ones don't seem to add much structural integrity (they're not taut) the top one did (at least on mine). I would keep them on since I think the weight savings doesn't justify making it unsaleable. Just my 2 cents.
