OK, after answering so many questions about the BA Seedhouse 2SL, it's now my turn to ask. :)
I am thinking about snipping off:
1. The two connectors that connect the side of the floor to the underside of the fly.
2. 5 of the 14 hooks that connect the inner tent to the poles (1 hook from each of the four corners plus one from the spine – the one closest to the hub at the foot end.
The floor connectors widen the mid-section of the floor a tad — but that's useless to me since the tent is more than big enough for my solo use.
I haven't snipped off any of the hooks yet, but leaving 5 of them unhooked doesn't seem to affect the shape or the tautness of the inner tent at all.
The purpose for doing the above is to simplify tent set up and take down. The side connectors can be a pain sometimes, and why bother with 14 hooks when 9 can do the job just as well? Weight saving should be fairly minimal.
My main concern is that I kiss the Ebay resale value goodbye if I should ever sell this tent.
Has anyone done this? Should I? Shouldn't I?
