Me and a couple backpacking mates headed in to the seldom used Chelan Summit trail area for a few days last week. Great time, zero rain, barely a cloud. Majority of the trip spent at 5000-8000ft so temps were comfortable. Right in the 70's-low 80's. Bugs were barely noticed, a 3 out of 10 at worst. Flower season seems late this year…they were out in full. Did not see another soul beyond Cooney Lake. Had a fun little run in with a black bear and plenty of cougar scat on the trail.

About 50 miles. In at the Crater Creek trailhead, out Stehekin and back to Chelan via Lady of the Lake Express.

Night 1 camp – Cooney Lake
Night 2 camp – Star Lake
Night 3 camp – Moore Point on Lake Chelan

Kris, great trip report. Two years ago a went fishing at Cub lake and Boiling lake which is on the west side of the ridge from Cooney. We approached from the martin creek valley up and over the ridge.
The fishing was excellent at Cub.

The fact that you did the Chelan Summit, then the Enchantments makes for a truely epic summer!

Savor the memories- for me those kind of opportunities are few and far between now.
