Why is Spinn unavailable??

If I recall correctly the quality of new manufactured material was not good enough for many of our cottage industy companies.

Some people had good experiences with Spinntex and related fabrics (<1oz silicone-coated polyester fabrics), but a lot of other users hated it. People complained that it was more prone to tearing, it was less waterproof, and it was louder in the wind than silnylon or cuben.

I'm one that has had no issues (leakage, tears or wear) with Spinn. Did not know it suffered from some bad press.

I asked the owner of OES (Brian?) about that, and he said that the supplier he was using had changed their coatings, and the new coatings were less waterproof than previous ones. He wasn't able to find a new supplier whose coatings met his standards for waterproofing, so he ended up having to drop Spinn entirely, unfortunately. I don't know whether or not his experience was a universal thing, there might still be some suppliers that are making good Spinn fabrics, and maybe Gossamer is able to source it, but smaller volume manufacturer like OES can't afford to?
