I have a sawyer 3 in 1 filter I use as a gravity filter with a 3 liter playpus. I was curious how people carry the filter when it is not in use. I have thought about carrying it out in the back mesh of the pack so it can dry out a little, but then I worried about it getting dust and such in it. Another option is a ziplock to keep it from leaking any residual water but I wonder if that would promote funk to settle in.

I am also planning a trip on the River to River trail in Southern IL in mid October. While I don't expect freezing temps I would want to keep the filter close at night just in case. Are people using a little neck pouch or something similar to keep it close. Just something I was thinking about and figured I would ask the mass :)

Thanks

i keep my Squeeze in a ziplock in a side pocket. I do shake most of the water out after filtering though.

at night you could keep it inside the tent and if it was going to be very cold tuck it into the bottom of your sleeping bag.
