I have a cheap foam pad that came with my Gossamer Gear pad that I am using as a sit pad and a floor to a makeshift solar shower I created from my platypus bladder.
In the past I've just thrown them on the ground but I think I need some sort of ground sheet for it:
1. it is easy to have sap bind to it which is impossible to get off and then sticks to everything around camp.
2. the damage from twigs, rocks DOES start to add up. My current pad looks like the face of the moon.
Any advice?
There is probably a reason why it is called a sit pad and not a stand pad.

I consider it "sacrificial" gear. The pad wears out rather than the seat and knees of my pants, or wet/ muddy socks.
I have a bunch of 5mm EVA foam that makes great sit pads. I am a little nicer to my folding Z-Seat pad, but that was just $4 used, so my pants are still more important.
just wear it out and buy a new pad that you can cut to size once the old one is gone …
you could put it inside a tyvek postal envelope.

I use a Tyvek postal envelope for my frying pan. It has proven to be super durable so far.
You fry in tyvek?
