I got a Jansport Catamount 32 backpack at a thrift store yesterday and was impressed with the light weight: just 20 ounces, particularly with the extra pockets and so forth. It is a 32 liter pack (maybe larger) and would be comfortable enough for SUL loads or day hiking. I could do a summer overnighter with no problem. No hip belt and it might benefit from a universal-style sternum strap.
I wonder if other packs in the Jansport line would be good for UL?
