Sweet dreams are made of this…
Does anyone know of a single person shelter which achieves all of the following?
– Shrugs off howling wind/snow above the treeline.
– Shrugs off downpours lasting all day and night.
– Shrugs off boggy ground, keeping everything inside nice and dry (e.g. because uses suspension system to keep off ground, or because uses groundsheet which extends some way up sides).
– Low condensation, regardless of weather.
– Ability to be fully sealed against mosquitoes/scorpions/etc, regardless of weather.
– Fly/etc can be pulled back or omitted (on still, clear nights) leaving mosquito protection in place.
– Ability to be pitched either outer first or all at once, so that inner can be kept dry when pitching in heavy rain.
– A sleeping area ≥2m long, ≥50cm wide, and ≥85 tall at its highest point.
Bonus points if it also provides:
– Off-ground mounting (i.e. as a hammock), using trees or other existing structures.
– Off-ground mounting even on flat ground (i.e. compatibility with some kind of support system).
– Room to keep pack, boots, etc, dry, without having to necessarily keep them in the sleeping vestibule.
– A porch suitable for cooking in.
– Quick/easy pitching and packing.
– Light weight.
– Low pack volume.
– Low cost.
