I'm not affiliated with these guys.

I've been wanting something like this for a while but I was PLANNING on building "collections" of documents related to specific areas of interest.

However, at 3.5G downloading ALL of wikipedia isn't TOO bad.

This way when I'm in the wilderness I can read ANY page I want.

Also, the impact on first aid is important here to. If you get some WEIRD medical symptoms when in the back country you have a pretty verbose mechanism of information to help figure it out.

So far I've been carrying my iphone for music so I might carry it for wikipedia too :-P

Screw the medical info – I backpack with an MD (but that is a very good use of it). I'd want it on my iPad at 33,000 feet for interesting reading material while on plane flights.

Yeah.. having it on the flight is good too. I'm downloading it now. It's 2GB so it will take a few hours

My current goal is to get to the point where I'm REALLY comfortable staying in the back country. I'd like to try for a PCT thru hike but right now I get bored after about 9-10 days without the Internet or any form of external mental stimulation. This way I can just keep my phone charged and get access to wikipedia and just read random subjects.
