E I currently have been using the gsi dualist for the past two seasons. Love it, but looked to downsize from our whisperlite stove. When I bought the gigapower, I couldn't help but pick up the starter kit with so 700 and spork.

NOW, I have the dualist, a stainless ketalist to stuff in the fire, and the slick little ti setup.

1st ?: what are the limits of the so 700? What have you cooked in it?

2.) What other combinations would you recommend taking on a dual person trip? We often cook fresh eggs in the mornin , so debated a fry pan, but struggling to sort out what combo is most appropriate and when.

Lastly we have both the whisper lite and the gigs power.

Just brainstorming and hoping for some perspectives ;)

Hey Andrew,

I have cooked all kinds of food in a SP 600, MSR Titan Kettle, and my newest post the Evernew 900ml – which I bought specifically for cooking food in, as it is a short-fat pot rather than a tall/narrow. (the lid, sadly, did not work out at all for eggs – pretty much ruined it the first time I tried to cook eggs with it :( So going back to using the Evernew 6.5″ pan for eggs and meat and such.

If you are wanting to get away from MountainHouse there are a few other “bag” options out there. HawkVittles is at the top of my list. But a lot of folks seem to prefer Packit Gourmet and those who are vegans go with Outdoor Herbivore.

If you are wanting to get into making your own and want to get serious about it, buy yourself an Excalibur dehydrator and (at least) these books to get you started Backpack Gourmet and Trail Food. You should also check out this crazy guy on youtube for some amazingly good trail foods, and TrailCooking.Com is also a very good resource.
