I noticed that the women's thermarest prolite and prolite plus are warmer than the normal versions (2.8 vs 2.2 and 4.6 vs 3.8). The description says they have extra insulation at the foot and torso area. Does that mean that only those areas have the higher R value and the rest of the pad has the normal R value? Or is the entire pad warmer overall than the normal version?

The shorter length doesn't bother me, and if the pad is warmer overall then it sounds like a better choice.
