I am making a new ultra-light backpack, and am interested in people's experience of the strength of the a sewed seam on .34 Cuben fiber. I have heard that the strongest method is to tape and fold, but the tape weighs 3.5g/m, and so completely defeats the purpose of using the lighter .34 vs the .51, if the .51 can be sewn.
My current backpack is all 1.1 ripstop, except the very bottom, and has held up well, so I am very easy on my gear. People that have experience with it, do you think that the .34 Cuben is stronger at the seam than 1.1 ripstop, or does it shred out more easily?
