I'm heading into the Wind Rivers next week, and the rangers have restricted all wood fires, even enclosed wood stoves. I was planning on using a Backcountry Boiler to heat water for 3 people.
Now, I'm looking at other options. For five nights, I'm looking at a pound of alcohol, at least. The wood burner had seemed so simple and light, and I'm still in denial over the prohibition.
The solution I'm looking at is to have each person carry his own fuel for the trip, and share the stove and pot. (I have a larger pot and alcohol stove for this purpose)
Is this the lightest/simplest set-up? I've never used or researched traditional butane stoves. Would that be easier/lighter for this trip?
