Last year I came across the PCT end of a very new trail with a sign stating it originated in Eugene. But, can’t seem to find out anything more about it. Where, exactly does it start? How long is it? What’s the terrain like? etc. Any info would be appreciated.

    Locale: Pacific Northwest

Here’s some info at http://www.oregonstateparks.org/events.php?id=695. It gives a link to http://www.eugenepct.com, but the site is under construction. Total of 108 miles.

EDIT: Here’s a state park that mentions it includes a portion of the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail: http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_83.php. While it gives no further info, at least now you know the official name of the trail! It also mentions that the trail begins at Alton Baker Park in Eugene.

Lastly, I found this document: http://www.doc.state.or.us/OPRD/PLANS/docs/trails/inventory/phase_1/trails_examples.pdf#search=’eugene%20trail%20to%20PCT’. It lists some statewide trails in oregon that look interesting, including the ETPCT.

Try giving a ranger station/outdoor shop a call in Eugene, see if they have any more info. I’d be curious to hear about it.

I’ll be moving to Portland in a year, so I’ll be looking forward to trying some of these out. Let us know if you try any of these and what you think!
