I'm torn between choosing Notch and SS1, I would like to try one before buying these expensive tents. Anybody who has these tents willing to rent/lend me for a weekend for reasonable price. I can also put a security deposit if needed.

Have you talked to Henry about his return policy? Here is what's listed on the TT website:
You may return an unused item, purchased directly from us, within 90 days for a full refund (minus the original shipping charge). No exceptions beyond 90 days. We will not accept any tent seam-sealed with urethane. Tarptents that have been used in the field will be evaluated for resale and partial credit returned to the original purchaser.
If it were me, I would order both, mention in the comments or an email to Henry that you plan on returning one of them once you can set them up in your yard and get a feel for them.
