Filter / Screen for Nalgene Bottles

Some people rubber band a coffee filter or their bandana, but to me, that’s somewhat tedious (esp. when removing a well-tightened rubber band afterwards).

I use Platypus rather than Nalgene, but I believe my idea of a “screw on / screw off” filter cap will work. Be it narrow or wide mouth, you will need to sacrifice one cap. Click here for details.

That's a great suggestion Ben. I've seen your design before, but haven't tried it yet. Your reminder has spurred my interest in making one.

SteriPEN markets the 'Hydro Photon Water Bottle Pre-Filter" that attaches directly to a Nalgene bottle. $14 at REI, less at other places.

I saw the thing at REI yesterday. A bit over-engineered but still pretty nifty. If you use a wide-mouth Nalgene, then you should give it a try.
