Hi,

This is kind of a silly question, but I'd like to replace my bandana since, despite going through the washing machine multiple times, it continues to bleed color. That's not something I'd want if I were to use it as a pre-filter for water.

Can anyone recommend a quality bandana? Maybe a large handkerchief would make more sense?

Thanks

rhz

I have the same problem. Seems that most of the cheep made in China bandannas run like crazy. Even after many washings mine still run some.

Was looking at buying from this guy:

Looks like a small American owned business, which I like.

Anyone ever purchased from him?

I have gotten custom printed bandanas from bandana man and they were great. Get the larger size for better coverage. FYI the custom screen was great quality as well.

I get the cheap ones from Walmart ($1 each, cotton, made in China). I don't recall ever having a problem with them bleeding after the first wash. I wore one as a dew-rag (do-rag?) for 13 miles this weekend with no running.

Before I started backpacking, I wore the WallyWorld bandannas at work in conditions that ranged as high as 100+ F heat and 100% humidity washing dishes for two years. Never had an issue with the color running. They fade a bit in the wash over time (10+ months of at least once a week use), but that's normal for any cotton garment.

They still work for me backpacking as well.

Hope it helps!

When I say that the color bleeds, what I mean is that when I wash my orange colored bandana by hand in the bathroom sink in cold water, the water develops a distinctive orange tinge to it–even after many, many washings. I don't see the color variations due to the dye running on the bandana itself, although the color generally is clearly fading over time.
