The BPL Hane was designed for tenkara fishing and easy packing, but alas had a very short period of availability. There are now alternatives:

    Daiwa Soyokaze Review
Cautionary Tale: Soyokaze 24SR, scroll down a ways to find it.
    All Soyokaze Rods, at TenkaraBum.com

    Daiwa Kiyose Review.
    Daiwa Kiyose, at TenkaraBum.com

The Kiyose is much like the Hane, the Soyokazes are longer in the pack, but limber, more like a traditional tenkara rod, though they are marketed in Japan as "tanago" rods.

If you missed out and are looking for short light packable tenkara rods, this should do it.

I have the Soyokaze 27SR and it is a delight.

Chris at TenkaraBum.com has been fishing tenkara from the beginning (in the USA), is a great guy to work with, and has a wealth of information on his web site.

[no vested interest here, just wanted to share the info.]
