Hello,
Recently, I had 2 complete sets of backpacking gear stolen :( …. But, the upside is it gives me an excuse to try new stuff.
One of the pieces that got stolen was my several year old Marmot Chinook wind shirt. I thought it worked well but it's the only wind shirt I've ever tried. The one's I'm thinking about are:
GoLite's Ether Wind Jacket
Patagonia's Houdini
Several questions:
Does the Houdini have a hood?
How do those jacket's compare with the Chinook?
What are other options?
I'm open to a non hood but I'm not sure what would provide the head warmth for the weight.
Slightly related bonus question :)
I'm also planning on buying a vest for my new insulation layer. In the past I used a Micro Puff jacket. (got stolen) Because I used a jacket I tended to wear either the wind shirt or the jacket. With the vest I will be wearing both.
Do you prefer to wear the vest over or under the wind shirt? (I seem to remember a post about a year ago related to this but I couldn't find it.)
Thanks for the help.
