TT Notch and StratoSpire

I have only used a Stratosphire and not the Notch, I felt for an extra 160g the Stratosphire offers far more space.

Yeah I've pm'd with Franco. I probably just need to get my hands on both. I'm thinking along the same lines as you though. A lot more space for a little more weight.

I know a few folk on here ordered both and sent one back. I have a Scarp 1 also and the space has me spoiled so the SS1 was an easy choice.

One thing I did do was have Henry add extra ground tie off points for use in winter or in strong winds, I had mine out in Colorado two weeks ago and it was great.

I am half tempted to get the solid inner also.

Have you used it in strong winds yet with the full net inner? I've also been going back on forth on which inner I want.

I had it stuck behind a small boulder so only the top half of the tent got any bad strikes, so did not get any drafts in through the bottom.

I did use it in in Marach at about 28f and the drafts where a small bit of annoyance but only as I was using a UL quilt and not a wind proof bag.

One thing that did happen in Colorado was I was pitched at a bit of an angle so I rolled during the night and knocked one of poles (cheapo Walmart ones) but I was able to put it back in place without having to get out of the tent.

I was one of the ones who ordered both the SS1 and the Notch. They're both excellent tents, but I ended up keeping the SS1. My decision was pretty much based solely on the space inside. When I set up the Notch and laid out my winter bag, a WM Ultralite, it was just a little too cramped for my liking. (Here in Kentucky, I'm usually able to use a 3-season tent year round.) I tried to move the poles out from the inner to stretch the floor out, but it was still a bit smaller than what I was looking for. The SS1 had plenty of space for me and a little gear. Two roomy vestibules and solid as a rock once you figure out a taut pitch.

For the record, I really wanted to keep both to see if I would've gotten used to the smaller space in the Notch – I really wanted it to work – but I just couldn't justify the cost of keeping two tents that were that similar. Moral of the story is, you can't go wrong with either.
