Hi, I am in Australia but am trying to setup a good ultralight backpacking setup. I currently am trying to choose between 2 tents. I will be using the tent in mountain ranges in the snow occasionally so I consider I will need a 4 season tent. Cost is no issue as I would rather the light tent than the heavy cash, lol. So what I need is opinions about the following two tents and if you can think of other lightweight tents that are of comparable use you may also add information on those. I cant use tarptents as I hike with a gun and need to keep it dry.

First tent is:
STEPHONSON'S Warmlite Climbers Two Person Tent. I will add the following options, reflective liner, large door front, wind stabilizers, end liners and side windows. This gives a total weight of 1530gram or 3pound 6 ounces. this weight has no ground sheet for extra protection.

Second tent is:
BIG SKY Montana 2p shelter with snow flaps, both interiors, 3pc 4season poles, stuff bag, 6 guy lines and v pegs, ground sheet. So in snow my weight would be 1932gram or 4pound 4 ounces and in non snow my weight would be 1523gram or 3pound 6 ounces. These weights include a ground sheet.

So any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I dont have experience with these two tents BUT – i have read here recently that:
1) bigsky has been having serious customer support/fulfillment issues. you need to search here a bit (or someone will come along soon and point you to it) but it basically seemed that they were out of business and people were like on the verge of suing them. disclaimer – this could have changed since then

2)stephensons – IIRC caffin did some STOM / tent report and the tent he had from warmlite seemed very much below par

YMMV
