The following was part of a post from a Thru hiker doing the PCT this year, at "trail Journals.com" :
He writes; "Hollywood" couldn't resist defacing the new door to the Muir Hut by writing his name on it with a felt tip marker. That hut is almost a shrine to John Muir. What an idiot! Oh well, boys will be boys I guess."
Why?

Testosterone poisoning?
It is easier to imagine someone with a trail name of "Hollywood" doing this than "Sunshine" or "Yoda".
