Sure. The torso is completely adjustable so you can wear the belt on the hips or higher…or lower. The pack can easily carry 30 lbs as the suspension if very robust. The front pocket is unique and works very well by not impeding on volume inside the pack. Belt stows away for a climbing harness. Pack is heavy for the size but absolutely bomb proof. It should last a lifetime of regular use.

I am your height but found the large yoke a bit too tall. The medium worked much better.

Probably one of the best all around packs I have used. Great for climbing, hiking, overnights, and even traveling.

Wow thanks for the fast reply! This helps a lot. I knew the frame was adjustable but wasn't sure by how much exactly. This pack seems to be what I'm looking for . . . but pricy so I'm trying to convince myself to shell out the bucks. Good to hear that a medium yoke would work better. Did you happen to get the regular belt or the live wing?

Not the live wing, although I have used that on their Trance pack and it is excellent. If you are going to be carrying heavier weights in it, it might be a decent option.

Edit: I am in Canada and had the same reservations but I called them and they were excellent to deal with.

I bought a Mystery Ranch Dragon Slayer this year and have to say that I am totally impressed with the comfort and build quality of the pack. It is definitely not light weight but I needed something with between 2000 and 2500 cu. in. of volume that could take some serious abuse and comfortably carry a 30-40 lb. load. I don't think I could have made a better choice. I own 5 packs for different uses and by three different manufacturers (Osprey, Mystery Ranch and ULA), I love them all but the Mystery ranch is one of my favorites.

I can't chime in on the fit for ya… but I had a MR 3 day Assault pack, and man, it was really well built!

I own both the Mystery Ranch sweet pea, big sky and the Street Fighter their all great packs. Get the sweet pea in Navy Blue/real tree green it a cool looking pack. You will get some hip transfer with stock belt wings . But if you want true hip transfer get the optional and easily removable heavily padded belt wings also. I also really like the shovit pocket you can fit a lot in the pocket it makes. The pack are made in the USA by the finest craftsmanship. If you want a larger lighter pack in the Mystery Ranch line get the Trance XXX it is made out of waterproof Xpac. Just call Mystery Ranch the sales people are second to none they all use the products they sell.

Can't attest to the Sweet Pea, but I currently own three Mystery Ranch packs (BDSB, Mountain Monkey, Broomstick) and all have been great in their respective niches. I've beta tested packs for MR, again with stellar results. None is light weight by any standards, least of all this site's, but all are exceptionally well made, lifetime durable, and do exactly what they are supposed to do. Unexcelled customer service. Worth every penny.

So I bit the bullet and ordered. Sweetpea OD Green medium yoke and medium belt with the live wing. I should have asked earlier . . . David did you have yours shipped USPS or Fed Ex? I selected Fed Ex but am now wondering what extra charges I'll get hit with. Real bummer getting quality stuff from the U.S. shipped to us up north.

Thanks everyone who give input regrding mystery ranch earlier. Now hoping to get some tips on fitting.

The bag came in, seems great but having trouble getting the yoke and waistbelt to fit where I like it. I personally find the belt around the hips is the best way to go, but when I try to get the yoke arranged for this the shoulder straps come up far too high around my neck.

The fitting video on their site shows that the "notch" where the shoulder pad is sewn to the yoke shouldn't go above the top of shoulder blade. Of course when it does go too high it gets too high on the neck.

I'm starting to think this pack is really made to go around the belly like a lot of the pictures I've seen. The best I've manged is maybe an inch and a half above my hips before the shoulder straps beome restrictive.

Does anyone who owns one of these have any possible tips?

Duh, I'll update myself. The manual provided stated you can throw in a couple of pillows to give it shape to get the fit right. Did that and didn't work to well. I threw in 15 pounds of sand and all of a suddent the fit guide starts to make sense, the belt just kind of shifts into place with a load.

I have the livewing upgrade so I think the issue is really removing the live wing when there's very little weight in the pack. It kind of feels awkward and rides up on you unless it's tightened to the extreme.

Oh and for canadians wanting to to ship from Mystery ranch get them to ship usps. It will cost 35 US. I did have to pay customs which for this pack was 43 bucks.

Shipping was similar with kifaru. The pack I got from them was (Zulu G2) pricier so customs was around 70 I believe but 40 for shipping.

The Zulu is great by the way I especially like that you can shorten the shoulder straps separately which is great for me as my left shoulder is almost an inch higher than my right shoulder. The delt straps are amazing to they really help bring the load close to your hips. Once you fiddle with it for what seems like forever it just fits like a glove. The sweetpea is a good addition when carrying less stuff.

Sorry I missed this. With the live wing over your iliac crest, the yoke should be raised such that the seam where the shoulder straps attach to the yoke is about 1-2" below the top of your shoulders. Should fit perfect then and the shoulder straps should be sufficiently wide to NOT chaff your neck. It sounds like you have the yoke too high. There are fit videos on Vimeo….

Thanks David, the livewing was just abit much with little weight in the pack it seems when I had the yoke in the proper position, it seems to shift around on me. With 15 pounds in there it's settled better.

Try pushing the left side of the belt into your illiac (snug it up) while pulling the tension strap the opposing way. Then do the right side.

The reason why I say this is you shouldn't need any weight in the pack to get the belt snugged.
