Hi,

I bought an icebreaker tech t lite shirt in a medium. I really like it, but after a hand wash or two in cold water, it shrunk a bit–still usable but kinda form fitting now. I'd like to buy another one. I'm toying with the idea of buying a large and trying to shrink it in a controlled manner. Has anyone had any experience with this?

thanks

It can work, but it's not a controlled process. The shirt will shrink more in length than in width.

It may be wiser to drop it by a local seamstress and take it in a bit than risk experimenting shrinking merino in the wash.

Local seamstresses here can take in shirts on the cheap, may be the case for you as well.

I've done it before with an ibex shirt that fit a bit baggy but wanted to be more like a baselayer. Just washed it and dried for 10 minutes at a time until it was the tightness I wanted. Worked for me but YMMV of course.
