Kari is working hard alongside the numerous fire agencies working incredibly hard at battling our state's wildfires. I've been following her documentation as well as the photography of a local friend Jake Quinones who is a backcountry guide/photographer here in Southern NM (www.newmexicobackroads.com). Jake makes a living taking clients through the Gila, which is now all but completely burned up save a few outlying areas that are less frequented, and he has been embedded with the fire crews providing a native born perspective.

My father has been working as an incident officer and media relations for the BLM on the Whitewater Baldy Complex fire (298,000 acres) and the Little Bear Fire (+40,000) since the start of the Whitewater fire weeks ago and was relocated to the Little Bear fire when that struck up- Kari has been right there in the heat of it all day in and day out amongst all the crews.

Our state has been ravaged the last 2 years, drought and unbeneficial fire suppression for decades is taking a toll.
