I've been experimenting with a homemade cat stove. I finally took it on a backpacking trip last weekend. I've come to the conclusion that my homemade tinfoil windscreen is not going to cut it. Antigravitygear sells some windscreens that look pretty good and are cheap. However I can not decide between the 4" and 6". The 4" would come to about half way up my pot, the 6" would come to just a hair over the top of my pot. Which one should I go with? Not sure which one would work the best.

Depends on if the taller screen is going to make access to the pot more difficult. Seems like it would. I made a great screen from aluminum flashing from HD. Rolls up and fits in my cookpot with the cat stove.
If your pot is fairly wide, halfway up the pot should be fine since most of the heat will be dispersed by then to the bottom of the pot. A taller/thinner pot may call for a taller winscreen because a lot of the heat will be transferred along the side of the pot, especially if you are using a cat stove in sideburner mode.
