Greetings, I am still on my quest for my next ultralight shelter. I'll either be going tarp/tent style a la lunar solo or notch, or more tarp/mid style a la the above-mentioned.

Does anyone have experience with one or both of the WIld Oasis or Duomid? Which would be more sturdy and protective in inclement weather, heavy winds or rain? I wouldn't be winter camping with either.

I like the innernet option of he solomid, and that i can get a bearpaw pyratent for it. But then again, the perimeter netting of the oasis sounds nice too.

Would much appreciate hearing your experience

Thank you
Brad

Never used a wild oasis so my vote goes for the solomid. The two pole setup and tie-outs would probably make the solomid more storm worthy. You can get Ron at MLD to add a perimeter netting on the solomid if that's what you are wanting instead of the separate inner.

Hi Brad,

No experience witty the Wild Oasis but I did have a Solomid and a Duomid to test out last year, the Duomid is far roomier and can be pitched with two poles I'd they are long enough, I did not like the lack of head room in either somwent with a Tarp Tent Stratosphire 1 instead.

I know I am not much help ;-)

I have experience with all three (my trekking buddy owns a Wild Oasis).

The DuoMid is bigger than the SoloMid which is bigger than the Wild Oasis. At 6'1" I do not fit with a long sleeping bag in the Wild Oasis.

The DuoMid and SoloMid are considerably more stable in the wind. The DuoMid benefits with side tieouts and a wide base whereas the SoloMid benefits from a two pole inverted set up.

You can also get perimeter netting for both the MLD mids.
