I can't find anywhere where anyone says with certainty that Tenacious Tape sticks to sil-nylon. Does anyone know, or does one need the specific sil-fix kit?

You need a siloxane adhesive for silnylon. Acrylic adhesive does NOT work.

If you are trying to do a minor repair , use silicone on a small non load bearing area or silicone on a piece of silnylon .
Smear some silicone on the two surfaces wait for 10 minutes or so and press together.
(silicone is a glue)
McNett has a kit for that
Franco
BTW, 100% silicone not just any bathroom "silicone"

I do have the sil-nylon kit, but I was just wondering if I could eliminate it. The Tenacious tape sounds like it might be better to carry than duct tape, and certainly would be lighter. I was hoping to substitute for 2 things with the Tenacious Tape.

Leave it at home?

Don't worry about repairing it?

Just be careful?

I've never had to repair silnylon in the field.

If a guyline ripped off, find a small rock, wrap the corner of the surviving silnylon around it, tie it off with some guyline. Kind of a kludge but better than nothing.
