I set up my new Duomid with OookWorks inner for the first time today. I'm posting to share my initial impressions and to ask a question about pitching.

My New Duomid

My Duomid is the cuben fiber model and comes in a nice "olive green" color. The tent plus stuff sack and base tieout guylines weighs in at 13.3 oz. I've tentatively decided not to use the side tieouts located midway up the pyramid; my pitch was taut and I didn't see any reason to use them.

My inner is an OookWorks full mesh inner designed specifically for the Duomid. The base material is made of a type of kite fabric known as "Chikara." The inner plus stuff sack weighs 12.3 oz. According to the MLD website, the MLD solo inner with silnylon bottom weighs 8.5 oz; with stuff sack it probably weighs 9.5. The OookWorks inner would thus seem to be roughly 3 oz heavier than the MLD inner.

Overall I'm happy with the Duomid and OookWorks inner. Although the OookWorks inner is slightly heavier than the MLD inner, it has a pocket in the back and it features a dual zippered inverted "T" doorway which makes getting in and out of the inner very easy.

I'll update this post with additional impressions after using the tent in the outdoors.

Oh, and my question about pitching addressed to other Duomid owners: do you use the side tieouts located midway up the base of the tent?

Nice – can you tell me what the usable length is on the OookWorks inner?

The inner is 6'7" long by 2'5" wide with a 4" bathtub.

I'm waiting for my OookStar to arrive any day, chikara floor and partial cuben / partial mesh walls and doors. Sean finished it about 2 weeks ahead of schedule but Royal Mail / USPS are dragging their heels – tomorrow will be 3 weeks since he shipped it. I had another shipment containing an OookTub and cuben door shield for the Trailstar arrive a week ago today, and that was shipped on May 22nd. Any ideas how long yours took?

Is yours the OookNest Nano? Looks great. I believe the same dimensions are used for both the DuoMid and the SoloMid, although with the height difference I'd imagine the SoloMid version will hang differently inside the shelter.

When will you be able to get out and use the OookNest?

I believe that my inner arrived within a week or two of shipping. 3 weeks seems a bit slow.

My inner is Sean's "Duomid OookNest," made specifically for the Duomid. It's under the "Other Products" menu on his website.

Yeah, I really like it, especially the large inverted "T" zipper.

Definately by July – planning a week or so hike in the Sierra. I'll probably try a shorter hike before that, maybe along the coast in Olympic National Park. I was going to hike in the Sierra this June but I'm a soccer fan and the Euro's are starting soon.

unless I'm expecting extremely windy conditions, I don't normally bother w/ the upper tie out points, I've been fine w/ winds approaching 40 mph w/o them

btw Ron will make pockets for the inner if a guy wants them- he did for mine :)
