Anybody got any pictures of the MLD Trailstar in action? I've had one for about a year now and am still facisinated by it. I took it to the beach today and pitched it really high and made an awsome sunshade. I just love looking at pics of it in action. If you have any cool pictures, please post them.

Nothing super dramatic or exciting, but here’s a few to get you started…

A couple of these shots are with an inner net added to the shelter.

It's a Bearpaw Wilderness Designs Penta Net 2.

The Trailstar in combination with the inner net looks great.

@Nicholas
: What is the weight of your trailstar (with and without inner net)?

Hi Pascal,

Not sure on the exact weights off the top of my head but as I recall, the Trailstar weighs about 19 oz seam sealed and with guy lines. The inner net weighs a few ounces more, maybe like 22 or so, again seam sealed and with guylines. Total weight (excluding stakes) comes out to just over 2.5 lbs.

I can try to remember to weigh them later today if you'd like more accurate numbers.

It's not the lightest combination out there for two people, but I don't get too hung up on the weight since if I'm taking the innernet, it's probably a more leisurely trip anyway, as it means the rest of the family is coming along. Solo or with a buddy, I just use the trailstar by itself.

My main reason for going with this combination is I enjoy the weatherproofness, versatile set-up options, simplicity and modularity (with or without inner) that the trailstar + inner provides. It allows me to have one shelter that meets pretty much all of my needs.

Cheers,
-N.

Hi Nicholas,

you named already the advantages of the trailstar. It could be a good solution if traveling with my wife or my son in areas with many bugs and/or wind.

As a solo shelter it would be too heavy for me (i own a mld solomid and grace tarp), maybe if i expect a lot of wind.

My only concern is the weight, so if it is possible to get the "real life" weight it would be great.

Thanks
