The squeeze has been pretty much talked about to death so maybe this has been as well but I came across the below video for using the Aquamira Frontier Pro pre-filter with the Sawyer Squeeze. It not only adds a pre-filter but also protects the exposed threads, stops the rubber washer from falling out and solves the Platy problem.

Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter Pre-Filter Mod

Maybe not though because the threads connecting the frontier pro pre-filter to the Squeeze are going to be the same (presumably) as the Platy and not a good match. I don't have a frontier pro to check but someone with one might be able to chime in.

I tried this a while back since I have both filters. However, when I went to squeeze the water through the Squeeze filter with the FP prefilter attached, the water dribbled a little from between the FP prefilter and the Sawyer Squeeze filter. Of course this is what we don't want…

If I feel like I need a prefilter, I simply lay a corner of my small MSR Nano Packtowel over the mouth on the water bottle/bladder and then screw the filter onto the bottle. In my experiences, this has not affected the seal between the water bladder/bottle and the filter so no dribbling. As well, it has not affected the flow rate as far as I can tell.
