I am looking at purchasing the Oware 11X11 Pyramid Tarp and am wondering if I need to purchase additional tieouts. I normally camp on the west coast and at times it can be very windy. I notice on some of the pictures the tarp has tieouts higher up but I am not sure if these are standard or something that has to be added.

Oware Pyramid

Although pyramids are suppose to be good a shedding wind, at 7.5 feet tall, I worry about this becoming a big sail and perhaps not the best in windy conditions.

If anyone has any experience or insight I would love to hear it, Thanks in advance, Kevin.

James,

Thanks for the feedback, did you happen to purchase any of the additional "related items" or accessories?

Are you happy with the room – I am planning on 4 people plus a large dog?

Thanks, Kevin

I actually have the 9×9 pyramid and have slept 3 people and a dog just fine. I think you should have no issues. If you are going into an area with trees tieing off the peak to a tree or a rope strung between two trees opens it up so much. Also check out the double pole pitch here:

I got the perimeter mosquito netting. Also sprayed with permethrin. Works well.

I do wish I had the side panel ties now after weathering an insane storm in it. I ended up staking it down in 8 places which helped, but wall deflection was massive.
