Not your typical BPL/UL topic, but I figure with all of the collective wisdom here, someone might have an answer or provide some insight that would be helpful.

It's looking like I may be transferred overseas for some time. Outside of using a moving company, I need a way to bring my personal items–clothes, etc. with me onto the airplane. That way, of course, would be a suitcase, or bag, or something else that I could use. I would like to go ultralight, or at least lightweight.

I bought a huge North Face duffel (140 L) a long time ago to do the same. However, when fully packed with clothes, it became so heavy that I couldn't even shoulder the bag (it had backpack straps–but they were useless under that much weight). I have suits as well that I would like to transport.

Has anybody been in a similar situation? What worked best for you?

Thanks in advance.

Put it in a carboard box and ship it before you leave so you don't have to deal with it through the airport. Carry-on a couple days worth.
