who has experience with this?
is it worth throwing down to salvage the oldies but goodies
or are people simply choosing to purchase new b/c it's cost-effective in the long run?
i'm all about salvaging gear–saves $, the planet, and nothing beats getting your money's worth (and then some).
i'm seeing WORN chacos on ebay.
hmmmmm…
mine are WORN.
to save or to s**t can?
am i missing something important?

my gf reweb'd hers and they came out nice. the dog chewed the straps so she didn't need soles.
i resole my climbing shoes.. it makes sense if the cost is better than new
I got mine resoled out in Fremont about 6 years ago after having them for close to 4 years. They put a much more durable sole on and it lasted until I just bought a new pair a few months ago. Webbing was starting to fray some but still quite good. I think it cost $45 which was fine by me as I wear them every day.

"They put a much more durable sole on"
had you requested chaco to resole with something sturdier,
or was it simply fate?

I had options
I looked at getting my resoled, but it ended up looking close to the cost of Chacos on sale. So that's what I did. It's unfortunate. When I bought that pair of Chacos the resole/reweb fees were a lot lower. It was a no-brainer at those prices, but at what they're charging now ($40 resole + $36 reweb + $?? shipping) it comes out to the same or more than the $55 I ended up getting my newer pair on sale.
See the resoling page- looks like there are three sole options.

You'd end up paying more for someone else's gross pair of chacos than you would to just buy new ones.
