I microwave turkey bacon until it begins to be a bit crisp but not flaky. I put it in a zip top snack bag and use it for scrambled egg breakfasts, either broken up and mixed in the eggs or eaten as-is.
It carries very well in the summer – all week if necesary – and tastes great.
** BUT… its aroma may attract critters so I never take it in bear country and always hang my food bag otherwise.
