Along the lines of the other wet/rain clothing thread….
I'm looking for a mid layer addition to my clothing system.
3 primary purposes, in order
1. To wear over a base layer and under a shell while packrafting class 1-3 in near summer conditions, ie temps in high 40's low 50's minimum, and water temp maybe high 50's minimum. I want a little extra insulation, awesome breathability, warm when wet, something I can wear dry if it happens to get fairly wet. I'm not looking for immersion warmth or anything, just insulation for the fairly wet/cold/sedentary packrafting conditions. I'll be packing a puffy for use out of the boat.
2. To wear during moderate to high output activities in very wet and cold conditions with temps around 30's, cold wind, and all day precip.
3. Classic midlayer for deep winter activities over a base layer and under a light insulated windshirt (driclime)
I was thinking a simple fleece vest but most seem to have all kinds of zippered pockets and blah. I now leaning towards picking up a powerdry zip top and chopping off the sleeves, I don't really need or want the sleeves, especially for paddling. I could probably get something down to 7-8oz maybe.
Any thoughts?
What weight power dry (mid, heavy,) are you guys using? Thicker than an R1 like weight? P100, 200,? I wish I could touch and feel some stuff.
