Does anyone know the best websites to watch for good used backpacking gear in Canada, besides the BPL swap on this site.

Thanks in advance,
Derrick

look up MEC's gear swap. It's not online, but it is the best opportunity to find used gear.

They have about 3/year at all the MEC stores. Call MEC for dates.

MEC has an online gear swap under the community section of their website.

The problem in Canada is that we have so much overpriced gear because of the vendor exclusivity agreements and can't access the deep discounts and clearouts the US customers have. This increases the price of used gear localy. Also selection in the UL relm of things is even worse.

Having looked on Kijiji, and Mec I haven't found anything that wasn't cheaper on here. The MEC gear swap is great for car camping gear not so much for back packing.

So I think you are left with this site which even with shipping (ship USPS's slowest service) you come out with really good prices, and significantly less than you would pay in Canada.

climbing gear is often cheaper at MEC than REI …

of course clothes on sale at the outlets are cheaper in the states

the best places to buy i found were those that offered free USPS shipping to canada over a certain amount … if you are lucky, you wont even be charged duty …. eomc, moosejaw, campsaver ….
