Dear all,

Will be trying out various shelters this summer, and am looking for shared wisdom about what's apt to do best in a (rain) storm – Golite
Shangri-La 1 or a Tarptent Contrail. Also have a flat tarp, but I'm guessing that'll be less useful than either of the others, at least in my hands, and some bivy options I can go back to if other things don't look like they'll work well.

Thanks in advance for any tips on optimizing either of them!

Best,

Bill

I suspect they would be very similar certainly if you use the rear centre strut on the Contrail. The Contrail has more overall space and is better for those over 6 foot. The SL1 is too short for those over 6' (my experience only).

I had a Contrail & sold it to get a Moment B/C the Moment is much more "wind-worthy". It will easily accomodate 6 footers.
