So I just used my new Ti-Tri for the first time last weekend and loved it. I carried a bakepacker UL as I like to make muffins sometimes. HOWEVER, I had the idea of using the two grates from the Inferno insert instead of the 4 oz bakepacker, and I have to say it worked GREAT and has saved me 4 oz! :D If you're using wood it does make it a little less of an "inferno" but still works using the 2 cones without the grates, though that might've just been because the wood was damp.

SO, anyone carrying a Ti-Tri Inferno has a free bakepacker if they hadn't thought of it yet. And it's sized to your pot, so you can use it even in you have something smaller than 6 inches :D

Paul, can you explain teh "Two gtate system" in mor detail? My Inerno insert only has one grate, needed to make the Inferno work properly.

Should I make a heat diffuser from stainless mesh?

There should be 2 grates with the Inferno insert: one disc that holds the fire (or baking bag, in this example), and another that elevates the circular grate. You can see them in the third picture on this page http://www.traildesigns.com/stoves/caldera-ti-tri with the inferno cone and 2 grates. The grates are set up exactly the same way as they would be in the inferno, just inside the pot (might want to rinse the worst of the soot off first).

Hope that helps!

He is referring to the wire mesh ring that elevates the fire grate, and the fire grate itself. Mine is all dirty from using it yesterday but I cropped and blew up the two pieces being talked about. Sorry that it made it so fuzzy.

He is saying to put the ring in the bottom of you pot and the grate on top of it. Then add water , keeping it a bit below the grate which will boil and make steam to bake with.

Good Idea. I have a couple Bakepackers in the garage but have not used them in many years.
