I'm looking for another company who makes tents in a similar design to the six moon design lunar solo in the way that the side will fully open up leaving only a mesh wall. Also I like the idea of not having to use a treking pole in the pitch. I might have to wait it out but I'm getting a little impatient with the lunar solo being out of stock. Any help would be appreciated.

Jason,
It looks like Hikelight (based here in the Portland area) has Lunar Solo's in stock, if that's the shelter you want:
The TarpTent Rainbow will open up on one side (both vestibules can be rolled back) for all screen on one side – which is really nice – and it doesn't require a trekking pole to set it up.
Thanks for all the help. Im really after a tent that is designed just like the lunar solo. I know that tent makers most of the time use other makers ideas and just put their spin on it so I thought there would be another just about like the lunar solo. I like tarptent's designs and have a sublite sil. Another reason I'm looking at the lunar solo is that it doesn't have any built in poles in the design. I'm going to use this tent on some bike trips and to be able to just stuff the tent would really help my packing. I actually thought too that hike lite had them in stock but after I bought one he contacted me and said since six moon is out so are we. Nice guy though. Thanks again guys but ill just be patient and wait on the lunar solo.
The Lightheart Solo is quite similar to SMD Trekker, not so similar to SMD Lunar Solo.
This doesn't really help original poster's quest for a tent, but Gossamer Gear's The One is very similar in design to SMD Lunar Solo. Main difference is The One has two pole setup and Lunar Solo is pyramid-style one pole. The One is made from spinnaker fabric and is even lighter than Lunar Duo. Problem is that GG is out of stock and can't say when product will be available again:
Well worth the wait. Everything from SMD is solid and well designed.
I just called the Mountain Shop in Portland, a reputable local shop that carries some SMD stuff. They have one Lunar Solo in stock. I didn't ask if it was the 2012 version, though. I'd check that before placing any orders, as the new design has some nice upgrades. Also, the Lunar Solo isn't showing up on their website. The web business seems secondary to their physical store, so maybe they just aren't reflecting their inventory on the site.
If they cannot make the order happen, let me know. I'm over that way often enough that it would be easy to help out.

The Nemo Meta 1 is rather similar to the Lunar Solo .
Also take a look at the Small Pack TT Rainbow in the Bike section nof this forum.

Tarptent Downunder
I called the Mountain Shop and they did have a 2012 Lunar Solo in stock. Great place to deal with. Good prices and the tent shipped for free. Thanks again to everyone who posted.
Glad to help out. And thank you, you put a little money into our local economy (SMD and Mtn Shop are in the Portland area)!

Sorry for a slight thread hijack…but I'd never looked at this tent until this thread. I guess I'm just not a hardcore gram counter because I can't see the alure of a 1 lb, 15 oz tent like this with a trekking pole for support when for well under a pound more you can get a fully free standing, double walled tent like the BA Copper Spur UL1. That seems like a lot of hassle for very little weight savings.
Doug, that's heresy around here! (but I'm with you nonetheless)
